Application Guide
For Raw Plaster, Concrete Slabs, Natural Stone Cladding, and Tiles
1. Measure Moisture Levels
Measure plastered walls or concrete slabs with a moisture meter to determine moisture percentage reading, must be 20% or lower for Damp Gone to work correctly. Any reading higher than 20% will dilute the product and prevent a 100% success rate.
2. Drying Time for Natural Stone and Tiles
Natural stone cladding or tiles must get sun for at least four days after rain or washing so the material can dry before application.
3. Drying Time for Internal Walls
Internal walls will take longer to dry than external walls, so they will need more time to dry before Damp Gone can be applied. Walls must get measured with a moisture meter and left long enough to have a 20% or less reading.
4. Application Tools
Damp Gone can be applied with a brush or a pump spray bottle, preferably a pump spray bottle.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!
Damp Gone is a wet-on-wet application, which means you apply your 1st coat on the area you are treating, and after 2 minutes, the 2nd coat must be applied before drying so the product can penetrate into the porous area. If the 1st coat dries, the 2nd coat won’t take, so this is a very important part of applying the product.
Do not try and cover too much area at a time, as the 1st coat will dry before the 2nd coat is applied.
Drying time can vary, the more porous the product, the quicker it will dry.
Outdoor areas also dry quicker than indoor areas, so do a small piece and monitor drying time first before bigger areas are done.
Painted Walls
1. Surface Preparation
Remove loose paint from walls and do all preparation work before you spray your 2 coats of Damp Gone on the entire wall or water-damaged area.
2. Application and Drying Time Before Painting
After 2 coats of Damp Gone have been applied wet-on-wet, the wall must dry for two days before you paint plaster primer and paint.
3. Note
If there are some white spots appearing after paint, it’s the Damp Gone doing its work helping to dry out the walls, not anything to worry about.
Coverage
(Wet-on-wet, two coats on plastered walls) Coverage can vary on different materials, as some materials are more porous and will need more product to saturate the material.
